Counterfeit PDF-XChange Editor Android App Found on Google Play

To all PDF-XChange users and resellers—

Today it has been brought to our attention that counterfeit “Android Version” of our PDF-XChange Editor is available on Google Play.
Please note that this product is counterfeit and, although it uses our legally registered trademarked product name, legal company name and logos, it is in no way associated to our company or PDF-XChange product line in any way.
Do not download this app, as it's a dubious counterfeit product, and may well contain dangerous malware. Our Legal team are currently in the process of having it removed from Google Play and any other app store in which it may be present. We will also be vigoursouly pursuing legal options to apply penalties and financial consequences against those responsible.

Are You Experiencing Issues with Version 11?

We regret to inform users that some issues have been identified with the new version 11 of our software products, including:

• Windows not recognizing the application as the default PDF handler.

• Printers not functioning correctly after the update.

• Issues with the new file explorer, including missing locations, or loss of access to shared network drives and cloud services.

• License keys not transferring correctly following our migration from ..\Tracker Software\.. file paths to ..\PDF-XChange\.. file paths. Reapplying the license key should resolve these instances.

• Issues related to changes that were made to default registry/folder names (see below for further information).

While these were primarily a collection of smaller issues rather than a single critical defect, the decision was made to make the V11 installers temporarility unavailable as a precautionary measure. Users who have experienced any of these issues should completely uninstall the software using the Windows Control Panel, restart their devices, and reinstall V10.8.5 to use until the issues in V11 are fully resolved. V10.8.5 is available to all users with maintenance that covers V11. You can access the installers to that version via your account page, which is available here. However, if you have not been experiencing any issues with V11, then there is no need to roll back to an earlier version of the software.

We are continually striving to optimize the checks and procedures that we carry out when we prepare and release new builds. We sincerely apologize for any issues that users experienced during this transition between major versions. Please rest assured that we are working on resolving them, and also on optimizing your experience with similar transitions in the future.

Preview versions are designed to be installed alongside your existing production installation, so both can remain available and be used independently without compromising their respective useability.

Axios NPM Supply Chain Compromise: Malicious Packages Deliver Remote Access Trojan - PDF-XChange Unaffected

On March 31, 2026, attackers compromised the official Axios package on the Node Package Manager (npm) registry. Axios is one of the most widely used open-source libraries for making web requests, with over a hundred million downloads per week. It's embedded in web applications, mobile apps, backend services, and automated build pipelines across virtually every industry.

PDF-XChange uses Axios libraries on our website. However, we at PDF-XChange had not yet completed our review and testing of the latest release and therefore were yet to either approve or implement the release that was compromised. 

We have thoroughly reviewed our servers, and no malware was detected. Consequently, we are pleased to confirm that our systems were completely unaffected.

Web site Services updates - Monday 9th March 2026.
Over the past months we have experienced a huge increase in attempts by malicious 3rd party actors to disrupt service for our primary domains and web site. In particular at specific times each week we have noticed automated attempts to break down our defences and it has been necessary this weekend to take action to ensure that both ours and our clients services and data are always adequately protected.

This is a regrettable but not surprising consequence of the staggering increase in our sales over the past 2 years - up over 100% for our most popular products - as many of our competitors have ceased to provide their products on anything but the 'subscription model - forcing clients to pay greatly increased (and far more lucrative for them) monthly or quarterly fees,  should they wish continue to use their software products and applications. It is our firm intention to continue to offer our products on a perpetual license, with no mandatory monthly, quarterly or annual fees.

During the course of today as these services are updated and propagated you may notice a temporary deterioration in response times to web site requests and  delivery - we sincerely apologise and will do our utmost to keep any interruptions to our services to the absolute minimum.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we act to improve our security and defences against these criminal and nefariously motivated groups.

Software Developers - SDK Website Maintenance

We would like to give our software development clients using our software development kits (SDKs) advance warning that the SDK section of our website (sdkhelp.pdf-xchange.com) will experience a brief downtime period for maintenance on Wednesday, December 17th from approximately 9:00–10:00 AM PST. Visitors to the site may encounter interruptions and/or delays within that time period. Note that all other areas of the website, such as orders, account/licensing/information management etc, will not be affected.

• Fixed an issue where document tabs could close unexpectedly when the documents were disconnected from their files, for example, on unstable networks, or after resuming machines from sleep/hibernation. (47992, 48074)
• Fixed a crash when a specially crafted argument was passed to the JavaScript API functions util.readFileIntoStream or Doc.importDataObject. Reported by Lee Kwang-Hui (rhkdgml4328@gmail.com)
• Fixed an issue with supporting PFX certificate files that use legacy cryptographic algorithms.
• Fixed an issue with displaying scroll bar handles together with search/find marks on scrollbars when the page view is split. (47411)
