Product Licensing Explained

PDF-XChange Co Ltd offers various licensing options for our end-user and developer products. Detailed below is a explanation of the different licensing options available from end user licenses to corporate packages and the scope and limitations of each.

THERE ARE NO ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION FEES -  ALL END-USER LICENSES ARE 'PERPETUAL' - AND THEREFORE LIFETIME - LICENSES. Annual maintenance is optional, but recommended as it provides access to the latest releases, features, fixes and updates.
License keys are provided by email, on receipt of full payment.

End-User Licensing: Single and Multi-Pack Volume Licenses

Our licensing is done on a per-user basis, and we do not support concurrent usage. This means that a license must be held for every user that has access to the licensed software.
Non-corporate licenses have no geographical restrictions.
*We extend our end-user licensing to allow one desktop installation and one installation on a secondary device (for example - a laptop/tablet) provided that the user of the software is the primary user of all machines in use.

Corporate Licensing

Owners of corporate and enterprise licenses may use and install the software on an unlimited number of workstations or servers, provided that sufficient licenses are purchased to cover all users. Additionally, where a Site or Country license pack has been purchased that an unlimited numbers of users will use, the following geographic and scope restrictions apply: 

• Corp Site License
  A single SITE LICENSE is for a single physical corporate location (building or group of buildings at the same geographical location).
   
• Corp Country Pack License
  Owners of the CORPORATE ‘COUNTRY’ LICENSE may install and use the software on unlimited sites within a single national border/nation – but not in other countries and only for the benefit of a single corporate body or its wholly owned subsidiary enterprises.
   
• Corp World Wide Pack (Global < 75,000 users)
  Owners of the WORLD WIDE CORPORATE LICENSE (GLOBAL) shall have the right to install and use the software in an unlimited number of locations and without any restriction on use in so far as national borders are concerned – all of these licenses relate to a single corporate body or its wholly owned subsidiary enterprises.
   
• Corp World Wide Pack (Enterprise > 75,000 users)
  Owners of the WORLD WIDE CORPORATE LICENSE (ENTERPRISE) purchased on or after May 1st 2014 shall have the right to install and use the software in an unlimited number of locations and without any restriction on use in so far as national borders are concerned. Licenses relate to a single Corporate body, any subsidiary enterprise in which an ultimate controlling interest (howsoever structured) of not less than 50.1% is held, all staff employed by any agency or affiliate provided that such staff are employed and engaged in a role exclusively for the benefit of the licensee or its qualifying subsidiary enterprises on a long term basis.

NOTE: PDF-XChange may only be installed on equipment directly owned or leased by the licensee and used by its staff/agency staff employed long-term and for the sole benefit of the licensee.
 

Government Licensing

These licenses allow for four different bandings based on geographical coverage (e.g. Local/Municipal or Provincial/State/County etc) and the number of users required. All government licenses allow for multiple departments and services such as administrative, educational, emergency services, health, planning etc - provided the users are employed directly by the local government body or are employed by agency/administrative bodies to work exclusively for the local government that holds the license.

These licenses are not intended for use by national/federal government users or third-party contractors or consultants etc. For more information on these licenses, or if you are a federal government user requiring volume licensing information, please contact our sales/support team.

* Viewer and Editor SDK licensing requires a license agreement to be completed prior to release of serial keys, and requires that a distribution declaration be submitted at a minimum of once annually - the first to be received within 13 months of purchase.
