How do I use multiple instances of PDF-XChange Viewer or PDF-XChange Editor? I want to view each document, or the same document multiple times, in a separate window.
If you wish to view multiple documents, or multiple instances of the same document in a single window, please see this article.
Click the product you are looking for assistance with below:
1. Open two or more documents.
2. Click and drag the document tab to a location outside the main window in order to move that document to a new window.
The document will then open in a new window frame of the Editor.
To change the default handling in the Editor,
1. First open the Preferences (Ctrl+K) window and navigate to General > Tabs and windows > Setup.
2. Then enable either Single document mode (which will force all documents into individual windows) or Open each new document in a new window:
1. Click Edit in the Menu Toolbar. A submenu will be displayed.
2. Click Preferences.
3. Select General in the Categories section.
4. Select either Multiple Documents or Single Document in the Documents Layout section.
5. Select the Allow Multiple Instances box in the Application section:
6. Click Apply and then click OK.
Please note that it is necessary to close and reopen the software for changes to take effect. Additionally, it is necessary for only a single instance of the application to be open in order to change preferences and other settings.
