Why can't I open my file in PDF-XChange Viewer? I get a warning that I need a new version of Adobe Reader.
Please note that a user asked this question on the PDF XChange forum. They did not want to use Adobe Reader to view the file and wanted to know why it was not possible to do so in PDF-XChange Viewer.
The PDF-XChange Editor now has the functionality to open and view XFA documents. If you are still using the PDF-XChange Viewer, updating to the PDF-XChange Editor is highly advised, Download Link Here.
One possible cause of this issue is that the PDF file contains XFA form data, which PDF-XChange Viewer does not support. If this is the case then a yellow notification icon will appear at the bottom of the user interface, next to the Options dropdown menu. Click the icon for further information, which should confirm that XFA-compatibility is the issue.
If you receive the following warning message when attempting to open the file:
"To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html."
then we recommend updating from PDF-XChange Viewer to PDF-XChange Editor, which can be used to view XFA forms. PDF-XChange Editor can be downloaded from our products page, which is available here.
PDF XChange endeavors to support as many formats as possible on an ongoing basis. If you find an XFA form that is not supported then we would appreciate it if you could send it as an attachment to support@pdf-xchange.com so that we can further expand the capabilities of our software and enhance the experience of our users.
